This summer they lost one of the world's best players in Neymar for £199million when he decided to leave for Paris Saint-Germain.
They were then battered 5-1 on aggregate over two legs of the Spanish Super Cup by bitter rivals Real Madrid.
This prompted Barcelona legend Gerard Pique to admit: "We are not in the best moment, as a team or a club.
"This a long process and there is room for improvement, we must stay as close as possible and keep moving forwards."
But before you get the violins out take a step back and remember all the glory they have enjoyed over the past ten years.
And then consider the fact they have a man named Lionel Messi in their ranks, and well, thinks aren't too bad at all are they?
Well, some football fans would suggest otherwise.
The Argentine has always maintained he would see out his entire playing career in Catalonia, despite other clubs showing interest in him over the years.
However, in the face of the current 'adversity' - bit dramatic, but you get the point - at Barcelona, he could be reconsidering his options.
